Spalding councillor calls for double yellow lines around school road
A councillor is calling for traffic safety measures to be installed around a school to help protect youngsters.
Coun Manzur Hasan has asked Lincolnshire County Council’s highways to install double yellow lines near St Norbert’s School in Tollgate, Spalding, after concerns were raised by the community.
Coun Hasan said problems are being created by vehicles left at the top of the road.
He said: “This situation has become a source of frustration for the community, particularly due to its proximity to a nearby school and the increased traffic during school days. The location's positioning just after a bend exacerbates the problem and poses a substantial safety risk.
“Implementing a double yellow line in the small area at the top of the road could go a long way in alleviating the persistent parking issue and improving safety conditions.
“I firmly believe that this step would not only address the challenge of constant parking but also contribute significantly to the overall safety of the area, particularly for the students attending the nearby school.”
