Cannabis possession in Spalding costs man almost £200
A man found in possession of cannabis has been ordered to fork out almost £200.
Brian Chappell, 55, admitted being in possession of the class B drug in Spalding’s Market Place on September 24.
“He was subjected to a search by police due to an unrelated matter,” prosecutor Lottie Tyler told Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
“The cannabis was seized and the defendant provided a statement admitting the possession.”
Defending Chappell, Mike Alexander said: “He is of no fixed address and has some background of mental health issues.
“He accepts possession of a small amount of cannabis. It speaks for itself.”
Chappell was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
Magistrates ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drug.
