Spalding care home residents recycling for charity

Staff and residents at Cedar Falls Care Home in Spalding have been recycling empty medicine blister packets to help raise money for the Marie Curie terminal illness charity.

They have been collecting empty packs and taking them to Spalding's Superdrug, which in turn sends them to TerraCycle for recycling.

For every kilo of empty blister packets collected by Superdrug and sent to TerraCycle, £1 is donated to Marie Curie.

Activities Coordinator Sharon Kendall said: “We love to support our community and enjoy doing things with local people and local businesses.

"We also want to be as environmentally responsible as possible. Blister packs are in everyday use in care homes, hospitals, healthcare units and households up and down the country.

"It makes sense to recycle them so that they can be converted into useable material. We are delighted to be supporting Marie Curie and reducing waste simultaneously."
