Spalding care home staff given 14 gifts in 14 days as a thank you for work during the pandemic
Staff at Cedar Falls Care Home in Spalding received a gift every day for two weeks as a thank you for their care and commitment during the 18 months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Owners Tanglewood Care Homes made the gesture to staff in all its homes, including the ones in Boston, Coningsby, Horncastle, Alford and Lincoln.
Managing director Mandy Jackson wanted to do something meaningful to sincerely thank team members so, along with personal assistant Wendy Trotter, began the colossal task of organising thank you gifts for everybody in the company to be received daily over a fortnight. Gifts included pizzas, bath sets, helicopter rides and weekend getaways.
From August 9, and every day for 14 days and in 14 different ways, everybody working for Tanglewood in Spalding received a thank you gift.
Receptionist Elouise Mott said: “The bonanza was a beautiful idea, that was well thought out and was received with great appreciation and joy by all.
"It gave everybody an extra skip in their step as they truly felt appreciated for their efforts during an exceptionally difficult time. It was even more lovely to share these gifts with some of our residents, who especially loved the chocolate treats, fish and chips and ice creams.
"The gifts brought smiles, laughs and best of all, it brought everybody together in pride for what they do best, caring their community.”
Deputy manager Susan Wilson said: “What a lovely idea to have 14 days of treats from Tanglewood. It was an exciting two weeks for everyone who wondered daily what our next treat would be.
"We really have worked tirelessly throughout the last 18 months, so it was fantastic to have the recognition for our team. A massive thank you from all here at Cedar Falls.”
