Bake-off winner Matty Edgell will be special guest at Spring into Spalding event

A celebrity baker will be one of the special guests who will be making an appearance at the Spring into Spalding event later this year.

Matty Edgell, who won the Great British Bake Off 2023, will be joining South Holland District Council chairman Andrew Woolf in judging cakes at the event which will be held on Saturday, March 30.

South Holland District Council’s Communities Team is putting on the event, which runs from 10.30am to 2.30pm, after securing a £6,000 grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Coun Tracey Carter, deputy leader of the district council and Portfolio Holder for Communities and Facilities, said: “I am really excited to see the return of this fantastic event.

“We are so grateful for the UKSPF grant which has allowed us to put Spring into Spalding on again for the community, especially as the last event was so well received.

“I’m sure the businesses will get into the spirit of the day too as we encourage people to get into the town centre and shop locally on our wonderful high street and support our brilliant market traders.

People will also be able to meet Sleeping Beauty along with having a photograph taken with Peter Rabbit or a giant daffodil stilt walker.
