Spalding ball raises £14,000 for charities

Spalding's popular Crystal Ball on Saturday raised an amazing £14,000.

Around 500 guests enjoyed a fabulous three-course meal, live music, a disco and party games at Springfields Events Centre.

The ball was founded in 2012 in memory of a Holbeach father of two, Graham Mackman, who passed away from cancer the previous year.

Some £10,000 of this year's total will go to The Roy Castle Lung Foundation, which means at least £74,000 has been raised for that charity since the ball's inception.

The remaining £4,000 will go to Little Miracles South Holland, a parent-led support group for families with children who have learning needs, disabilities or life-limiting conditions.

The ball was organised by Kelly Beba, Mr Mackman's daughter, with friends Melanie Coote, Debbie Craft and Emma Lambe.

Melanie said there was a new feature this year as guests were invited to play a version of The Price is Right - winner and ball regular Jess Haighton generously donated her £200 prize back to the charities.

As well as enjoying the company of family and friends, guests partied the night away with dancing to the SN Events disco and live music from the band Rollercoaster.

Melanie said: "It's a really good night and everybody really looks forward to it every year.

"We get such good feedback."

The team have thanked guests and sponsors for making this year such a big success.
