Empire Elite Allstar cheerleading club celebrates opening of new Spalding gym
A cheerleading team has celebrated moving into a bigger gym - as they gear up for their ‘biggest’ competitive season.
The Empire Elite Allstars UK team, welcomed old and new athletes over the weekend, for a grand opening of the new site at Unit 5, Cresswell Close in Spalding.
After the previous Crowland and Spalding sites were closed due to a lack of space, the cheerleading team now looks forward to developing their skills in time for competition season.
Director and programme owner, Nikita Capes, said: “ Saturday went really well. We had lots of new athletes come and have a look round, as well as our athletes who are part of the club already – it was definitely well attended.
“We closed the Crowland and Spalding locations as they were too small. Our athletes had been doing really well in competitions so we needed to find somewhere else which had a bigger main floor space so it was more realistic to what they compete on.
“Our class and club size is growing and by moving, it means we are able to continue to take on more people and there is more space for equipment.
“It was definitely a positive move or us and it’s more central for everyone – we have some athletes who travel an hour to get to us and it means all of the classes are in one place as well.”
The Empire Elite Allstar cheerleading team currently has 19 competitive teams, starting with athletes aged four and five up to 18 years plus.
Nikita added: “This is our biggest competitive season and each year we grow. From a coach perspective, we hope to see more athlete development as we will be able to offer higher level skills in a safer environment, and it means we are able to push harder and see all of our athletes grow.”

The club is currently hosting an August summer boost camp, and the yearly timetable will begin in September.
