Costa Coffee submits plans for drive-thru outlet in Wyberton Fen off A52
A leading coffee chain has submitted plans to build a drive-thru restaurant.
Costa Coffee are hoping planners will give them the all clear to construct the 'single storey compact building' at Wyberton Fen.
The proposed site is situated opposite the existing Tesco and Lidl supermarkets and B&Q store, and next to the McDonald's on the Swineshead Road part of the A52.
There is also a drive-thru Starbucks situated on the same stretch of road.
Planning approval for a nearby Aldi supermarket has already been given the green light.
"The proposal will offer a drive-thru restaurant, including internal and external seating and customer car parking," the design and access statement, prepared by JWA Architects on behalf of Carta Real Estate, says.
"The application site is efficiently located to serve the needs (of) passing traffic and visitors to the area. The building location has been considered to ensure the new drive-thru has a good visible link within the context of the road network."
The development is expected to have a gross internal area of 1,800sq ft while proposed landscaping includes a mixture of grass verges and low level hedges.
Access to the site would be via the roundabout which already serves Tesco, Lidl and B&Q.
Plans have been submitted to Boston Borough Council.
