Al Murray visited the Crowland Buffalo celebrations for his podcast this morning

Comedian and writer Al Murray paid a visit to the Crowland Buffalo this morning as its recovery was celebrated.

The stand-up star, famous for his 'Pub Landlord' persona, was on hand to take photographs and chat with people at the event.

He enjoyed a discussion with Lincolnshire D-Day veteran Ernie Covill (96), who helped to drive the 'amphibian vehicles' over 70 years ago, for his We Have Ways Of Making You Talk podcast.

Daniel Abbott, chairman of The Crowland Buffalo LVT Association, spearheaded the project to recover the vehicle. He was very happy with the way the day went.

“It’s a great way to say thank you to all the volunteers,” he said.

“The army boys came down from Catterick to say thank you for us recovering their vehicle.

“It’s exciting to have this kind of media coverage. It’s not very often that we get to do something like this."

The Crowland Buffalo was recovered at the end of April this year after being buried underground for over 70 years.
