Spalding town centre has been cleared of graffiti

The community has joined forces to help clear ugly graffiti which has been blighting the town centre.

Spalding has been targetted by vandals who have sprayed tags onto buildings and walls across the town centre but much of this has now been cleared up.

Residents, businesses and South Holland District Council’s Community Safety team have worked together to remove some of these tags.

Coun Anthony Casson, the council’s portfolio holder for Public Protection, said: “The work our Community Safety team do to tackle graffiti across the district can often go unnoticed, so I’m very pleased we’re able to highlight their efforts.

“Whether it’s on public or private property, resident or business premises, the team do everything they can to tackle graffiti, often working with our CCTV team and our partners at Lincolnshire Police to investigate and identify those who degrade our scenic towns and villages.

“The team’s efforts reinforce the council’s zero-tolerance approach to graffiti and we will continue to get it cleaned up wherever possible and track down those responsible.”

Earlier this month a 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with graffiti offences, which took place between January 12 and May 1 this year in both Spalding and Peterborough.
