Lincolnshire Vanlife club and Lincs Lowlife Car Club to take festive treats to children in hospital with convoy travelling through Kirton and Holbeach to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston
Van enthusiasts will be travelling in convoy to take festive treats to children in hospital and the emergency department and are appealing to businesses for gift donations.
Lincolnshire Vanlife and Lincs Lowlife car club will be arranging the annual trip from Sutton Bridge which travels through Kirton and Holbach aiming to arrive at the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston at 5.30pm.
One of the organisers Shaun Finnemore said: “There is a group of us that are van enthusiasts from all over the country –we do them up with flashing lights and air horns -and the club has a meet-up monthly.”
They will be delivering festive items on Saturday, December 16 that can be donated, such as toys, chocolates and sweets to the youngsters in hospital, and to the A&E department.
Mr Finnemore said: “Anything that people want to give – we did it last year and had an overwhelming response –and people are willing to help.
“We are doing it for the children that can’t get home this Christmas.”
The club would like to use a Santa Sledge, if any can be offered, which they will put on a trailer and tow it through the villages.
Mr Finnemore said: ”It is worth it to see the kids’ faces.”
Diane Ranshaw from Lincs Lowlife, who has been running the group for two years, said: “We want to give something to the community.
“We are trying to reach out to readers and businesses mainly to get donations – people can still donate.”
