Two celebrities from the UK’s longest-running television show have been announced to press the big red button at a returning light-switch on event.

Actresses Julia Goulding and Farrel Hegarty of popular soap drama Coronation Street, will be switching on this year’s Christmas lights at Springfields Designer Outlet in Spalding.

The stars, who play the roles of Shona Platt and Lou Michaelis in the long-running ITV series, are set to perform the honours from the Festival Gardens on Wednesday, November 12 at 6pm.

Visitors will get the opportunity to meet and greet the actresses after the light switch on in Springfields South Avenue Mall – near Levi’s and Radley.

The site will be open from 5pm, where families can get stuck into a range of free activities, and enjoy festive music from Spalding Parish School Choir and Holbeach Brass Band.

Adam Whittaker, Retail Marketing Manager at Springfields Designer Outlet, said: “We’re looking forward to hosting this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On event, featuring two popular TV and social media stars.

“Alongside the dazzling lights and entertainment, our guests can enjoy amazing outlet savings across more than 57 stores, all open until 8pm, helping to create an unforgettable evening and the perfect way to kick-start the festive season.”

As a result of covid-19, the shopping outlet has not run the event for five years but have previously welcomed big names such as actor and pop star, Martin Kemp and Aussie singer and reality star, Peter Andre.

The announcement was made this morning (Wednesday) on BBC Radio Lincolnshire by presenter Scott Dalton – who will also be hosting the returning event.
