Plans announced for £14million new retail park with ‘high quality’ supermarket

Could a popular supermarket be making a return to Spalding as part of a new £14million retail park?

Marshalls CDP and Rothstone Estates have announced plans to build a new supermarket along with a Costa Coffee on land off the A151 Holbeach Road, Spalding.

Up to 190 new jobs could be created by the foodstore and Costa if the South Holland Retail Park project is approved, according to documents which have been delivered to homes across the town. No formal planning application has been submitted yet.

The leaflet does not name the supermarket but a page on the Rothstone website discussing the South Holland Retail Park includes a picture of an M&S Foodhall.

People have been hoping that M&S would bring back a Foodhall after the previous store in Holland Market closed some years ago.

This website also mentions the investment value of the project is £14million and work is hoped to start in October this year.

The leaflet oulines the proposal by stating there are plans for a 21,585sq ft supermarket, 165 car parking spaces along significant landscaping.

It states: “The new foodstore is likely to have a full range, high-quality grocery offer, alongside online deliveries and click and collect.”

We have contacted the developers and M&S for comment.
