Crackdown on cars and bikes in Spalding town centre

Town centre motorists and cyclists are facing a crackdown - after complaints about too many vehicles and bikes using Spalding Market Place.

Police have vowed to carry out ‘days of action’ where they specifically target vehicles and cycling offences.

The crackdown comes after reports of increasing breaches of the rules, which are supposed to stop traffic in the day.

Sgt Rick Mosley said: “We are aware that there appears to be an increase in the number of breaches of the TRO which places restrictions on vehicles entering the Market Place between certain times of the day, depending on the day of the week and market days – with certain exceptions.

"The Neighbourhood Policing Team have continued to patrol the town centre frequently and deal with any offences they come across throughout the pandemic.

"As a result of the recent concerns raised over these breaches, we are planning some days of action where officers will be in the town centre to target vehicle and cycling offences.”
