‘Demand’ sees nine industrial units approved for Crowland

An application to construct nine industrial units to ‘boost business’ on a town site has been approved due to ‘demand’ in the area.

South Holland District Council has given the thumbs up for Shane Few to build the units on land off Phoenix Lane in Crowland.

“The submitted plans shown nine units, divided into two buildings,” the planning officer’s report explains.

“One of the proposed buildings is located along the site frontage, within the northern part of the site.

“The other building is located within the southern part of the site.

“A car park area is proposed between the buildings.”

Backing for the project came from SHDC’s Inward Investment Team.

Their consultation response read: “The Inward Investment Team are supportive of this application, the existing units on Phoenix Way were originally built by SHDC and have enjoyed 100% occupancy since they were opened.

“In view of this, the application is both timely and to be supported as the success of the existing units shows there is demand for this type of unit.”

Meanwhile, Lincolnshire Police has recommended CCTV, alarm systems, roller shutters and grills ‘be installed to a minimum standard’ as well as air conditioning systems and a sprinkler system.

The design and access statement prepared by agent J. Knight Design said: “Whilst the land seeking planning approval had previously gained consent this has now lapsed which has resulted in the re-submission of a planning application for a similar scheme with the intention to boost local business opportunities within Crowland and the South Holland District.

“The application site is located off Phoenix Lane, Crowland adjacent similar commercial developments.”
