Details revealed of Spalding Celebrate the River Day

Residents are being urged to ‘save the day’ for a river festival that celebrates one of Spalding’s most attractive assets.

A flotilla of vessels will set sail through Spalding for a Celebrate the River day — leaving Welland Yacht Club on a parade along the waterway to the Moorings pub.

Including canoes and paddleboards, the event aims to be a spectacle to show off the riverside and paint Spalding in a better light, building on the work of the recent Spalding Reconnected project and the addition of new benches near the South Holland Centre.

More details have been released of the event — which will be held on Sunday, June 8.

The flotilla will begin its journey from Welland Yacht Club at about 10am — with the aim of fully arriving at the Moorings by midday where there will be chance to stop for food and refreshments.

It will return to the yacht club by about 4pm.

The day will also be the yacht club’s open day — giving visitors to have a go at sailing.
