Revellers enjoyed Saturday night fever at Spalding Social Club hosted by DJ Shaun Neal who has performed for 5,000 Peter Andre fans and met Scott Mills, Heather Small and Chesney Hawkes
An experienced DJ who has rubbed shoulders with the stars brought a dose of Saturday night fever to a town’s social club.
Shaun Neal runs SN Events, Spalding Theme Nights and Absolutely 80s and has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Heather Small, Chesney Hawkes, Scott Mills and Vernon Kay - and an event next year will feature guest character Uncle Albert from Only Fools and Horses.
On Saturday night he DJ’d for a 70s themed disco at Spalding Social Club where snappy dressers in yellow flares and paisley shirts grooved the night away to tunes from the era.
Mr Neal who lives in Spalding said: “A DJing highlight was warming up the crowd at a Peter Andre gig with 5,000 fans in front of me and seeing their reaction - I was nervous but just got on with it.
“I have done many celebrity gigs over the years - meeting stars like B*Witched, Tony Hadley and the Vengaboys - and my favourite gig so far was with Heather Small from M People.
“I have been a self-employed DJ for 20 years and one artist I would really love to work with is Chris Moyles. - I’m a massive fan.
He has worked as a DJ at Butlins in Skegness, Bognor Regis and Minehead, and for corporate events and ‘crazy bingo’ all over the UK.
However there is one singer he is looking forward to meeting next year - from famous 80s band Bros.
He said: “I will be performing at the Big Weekender at Butlins in April and Matt Goss is on the same night - so I am really looking forward to meeting him.”
Mr Neal organises themed-events at the social club a few times a year and on Saturday night merrymakers danced the night away until midnight where bottles of Prosecco were won for best dressed male, female and group.
He said: “There are not many 70s nights in the area and it really makes it when people dress up from the era.”
“It was a really good night.
“Everybody enjoyed dancing to some 70s disco, glam rock and Abba classics.
On Saturday, February 22 special guest character ‘Uncle Albert ‘from Only Fools and Horses will make a special appearance at the Absolutely 90s night - with further surprises planned.
He added: “I have lived in Spalding all my life and have family friends - so I like to put on a good night.
“The social club is a great venue, lots of members come along for a drink and a dance.
“There is a car park and if people want to carry on into town it is not too far.”
