Spalding Beechfield Medical Centre's Dr Babu urges patients to use NHS app

Dr. J.A. Babu of Beechfield Medical Centre in Spalding writes this week's Health Matters column...

Spalding residents are encouraged to download the NHS App which is a simple and secure way of accessing a range of NHS services from their smartphone or tablet.

One of its greatest features is the ability to review your health record as well as receiving health advice with the click of a button.

Additionally, as a patient you may order repeat prescriptions, register your organ donation decision, find out how the NHS uses your data, view your NHS number, access 111 online for urgent medical queries, get your NHS COVID Pass and submit non-urgent queries and admin requests.

From November 1 this year patients will also be able to view new entries in their health records.

The NHS App puts patients firmly in the driving seat and has revolutionised the way we access health services.

It is intended to minimise any wait times to access GP practice services for Spalding patients here and across Lincolnshire.

Technology has changed many facets our lives in regards to banking, travel and shopping. Healthcare should also be at the forefront of this technology.

The app was developed by NHS Digital and NHS England.

It is available through the App Store or Google Play and once downloaded users can simply sign up for an NHS account.
