Spalding Parish School end term with athlete visit, business challenge and high ropes
Gold medal-winning British sprinter Leon Baptiste put school pupils through their paces during the last week of term.
The former Commonwealth Games 200m champ visited Spalding Parish Church of England Day School during National Sports Week.
Now an athletics coach, he got the whole school active and taking part in a fitness circuit challenge, before giving an inspiring talk about his career, challenges and hopes for the future.
Year 6 pupils have been working on their small businesses using £5 loans from the Virgin Make £5 Grow project. Pupils experienced team-working, problem solving, leadership, money management and creativity to deliver a market in the school and made a profit of £1,300 to pay for end-of-term treats.
During their final days before moving on to secondary schools, Year 6 children also visited the Fun Farm High Ropes and Laser Storm in Weston.
