South Holland Police say they will take enforcement action against cyclists who flout rules

Cyclists who flout the rules have been warned that enforcement action will be taken by the police.

South Holland officers will be clamping down on cyclists who are riding around with out lights or reflective gear as the winter nights draw in.

Cyclists could be prosecuted if they are using the roads without lights.

A force social media post states: “Use of a pedal cycle without lights being fitted is an offence which we can prosecute, please ensure your lights are in working order to ensure you are visible.

“Our PCSOs will be taking enforcement action within the coming weeks.”

Officers say that cyclists are required to have white front light, red rear light, red rear reflector along with amber/yellow pedal reflectors – front and rear on each pedal
