Worth Farms in Holbeach opens gates for Open Farm Sunday

A farm opened up its gates to help families learn more about how food is produced during a successful event.

Up to 1,500 people went along to the Worth Farms in Holbeach as part of the national Open Farm Sunday, which aimed to show the wider public what goes on behind the scenes to grow our food and nurture the environment.

The Worth team and helpers put on a total of 28 trailer tours around the farm which was enjoyed by around 850 people.

A number of local businesses supported the event including Jetco, Oldershaws, Jack Buck Farms and A H Worth Farms.

Spalding Young Farmers were also present and LIVES First Responders gave a demonstration.

Visitors were challenged to guess the weight of the bull and a teleporter to help raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support.

LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) organised a number of activities for youngsters.

Simon Worth said: “Farms are dangerous places and children can’t come onto them but there is a real disconnect between the general public understanding where their food comes from.

“It went really well and was a fantastic day.

“By getting people onto the farm they can understand where their food comes from and what we do.”
