Cowbit farmer warns visitors to get their pumpkins quickly following a successful pick your own event at Tyrrells Farm
A farmer has warned visitors to get their pumpkins quickly following a successful pick your own event.
Families and visitors faced rain, wind and lots of mud at Tyrrells Farm in Cowbit, this weekend – but organisers say they are pleased with everyone’s reaction following the challenging weather.
Farmer William Tyrrell said: “We had a busy weekend considering the weather forecast. It has been challenging this year, but we have done our best to create a good experience for the public – it’s the British weather, there’s not a lot we can do about it.
“We’re happy with how things are going so far and visitors always seem to leave with a smile of their face which is nice to see.
“I would recommend people to not leave getting a pumpkin until the last minute. We are hoping to stay open until October 27 – unless we run out of pumpkins before then.
“We’ve only got what we have grown ourselves and when the fields are empty, that’s it unfortunately.”
As well as the classic orange pumpkin, the farm offers yellow, blue, white and pink varieties, along with a range of squashes. Prices for the pumpkins vary between £1 and £10, squashes are £1 each and there will also be giant pumpkins for sale, starting at £15.
The Cheesy Pig, will be on site this weekend (Saturday, October 26) serving up a selection of pulled pork and cheese delights. The family run farm will be open until Sunday, October 27 (10am-4pm).
