Fault with overhead network results in power cut for homes and Anglian Water pump in Sutterton

A fault with an overhead cable left hundreds of homes without water and electricity.

National Grid Electricity Distribution has confirmed that a power cut on Friday evening was caused by a fault on its overhead network which affected 750 properties.

An Anglian Water pump in Sutterton was also affected by this power cut - and left hundreds of homes around Boston, Donington, Gosberton, Quadring and Surfleet without a supply.

Electricity was restored within 15 minutes to the homes but it tripped again later that evening at 9.47pm. A total of 735 properties had power restored quite quickly but engineers worked through the night to restore the remaining 15 customers along with supporting Anglian Water.

National Grid says power was fully restored during the early hours of Saturday morning.

A spokesman said: “On Friday 7 March, a fault on our overhead network caused two power cuts affecting 750 properties – including a water pump in the Sutterton area.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as our engineers worked at pace to reconnect them. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
