Resident fears nails were deliberately left on Whaplode road
Nails scattered across a road in Whaplode has caused a resident to warn others that it could be a deliberate act.
Debby Murfitt (61) put a warning on social media after her partner came home from work in the early hours of the morning with nine nails in his tyre.
The message said: “Beware I have come across nails thrown on the back road near Whaplode in two places not just a few the road was covered, got them stuck in tyres. Could be on other roads as well.”
Nails, described as the ones used for felt roofing, were strewn across Hagbeach Gate and Crowdyke Gate.
Ms Murfitt said: “Nails were chucked on the road, scattered where I take the dogs for a walk.
“They were all over and the amount on the road – someone has put them there deliberately all the way across the single track road.
“Luckily it didn’t damage them and I am thankful but I put out a warning on Spotted Holbeach in case there are any on any other roads.
“If the dogs had walked through them and got in their feet I would not be very pleased.”
Comments related to the post suggest others have driven across the nails and resulted with a punctured tyre.
Lincolnshire Police were contacted for comment and stated that there had been no reports made to them.
