Long Sutton Primary School pupils sign up for the Lincolnshire Free Press and Ashwood Homes Be Bright Be Seen campaign
More than 400 pupils have already got their free reflective discs as the first school joins our Be Bright Be Seen campaign.
Children at Long Sutton Primary School were the first to get the items, which are being handed out thanks to a campaign run in conjunction with Ashwood Homes and the Lincolnshire Free Press.
All of the school’s 416 pupils have been handed a disc, which they can attach to their coat or bag to help them stay safe on their way to and from the school, based in Dick Turpin Way.
Head teacher Sarah Gray said: “We're so pleased to have received these reflective discs for our children. With the darker mornings and evenings approaching, it's a lovely way to help keep everyone safe on their journeys to and from school. Small things like this can make a big difference.
“We're really grateful for the support and for helping our pupils learn how to stay safe and be seen.”
The delivery is the first of an initial batch of 3,000 discs that will go out to children across south Lincolnshire.
Lincolnshire Free Press senior editor Andrew Brookes said: “We’re delighted to be able to run this campaign and play our part in helping to boost safety during the school run.
“The children I met at Long Sutton were delighted to receive these discs and I’m pleased that they were so eager to embrace our campaign.
“With the support of our sponsors — and the kind assistance of the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership who have also backed Be Bright Be Seen — I hope we’re able to make a difference.”
