Pinchbeck fitness fanatic helping people in Moulton, Weston Hills and Weston ‘reach their full potential’ at new classes
A passionate personal trainer, whose love of fitness started from a young age, is hoping to help new members ‘reach their full potential’ in her latest endeavour.
Sarah Myland decided to swap her laptop for some kettlebells after leaving her nine to five finance job and pursuing her dream career.
Five years on in her new role as assistant manager and class instructor at Snap Fitness in Pinchbeck, Sarah is now taking on a different kind of venture in the community to improve socialisation and boost motivation.
After growing up in a rural village, Sarah says she understands how it feels to not always have regular access to transport links and is hoping her new classes will provide open opportunities for individuals looking to get fit.
She said: “Since working in the gym it has made it clear to me that not everyone can get here –whether that is due to financial reasons, a lack of transport links or having the confidence to walk into that big gym setting.
“I was brought up in Weston Hills where there were few things to do, so I feel deeply passionate about helping people reach their full potential.
“I want to bring the community together through whatever means – especially in villages around the area.”
Sarah has recently started leading pilates, ‘legs, bums and tums’ circuits and clubacise classes in Weston Hills, Moulton and Weston, which have received positive feedback from group members.
She added: “I want to create a group for residents to improve their social awareness, mental and physical health and build up a community atmosphere, which I think was lost after covid.
“It’s too easy to stay at home, watch telly or get sucked into social media on your phone and facilities in Lincolnshire are pretty spread out so not everyone can get to the gym – I want to change that.”
Sarah’s love of fitness first started when she attended aerobics classes with her mum at just four-years-old.
After changing career path, she now has more than 15 qualifications to her name and says she is always learning. “My finance job wasn’t fulfilling and I wanted to feel like I was giving something back to people. Sarah added.
“I love what I do now. It’s a different way to help people and it’s very rewarding.
“Some of my members have told me they would barely leave the house and now they are meeting new people – the smiles on their faces when they walk through the door is amazing and that’s what makes it for me.
“For some people who haven't spoken to anyone all day, it's a big thing to leave the house and go somewhere new and unfamiliar.
“Too many people walk with their heads down and I think if we started looking up and smiling at each other more, it could really help.
“My motto is ‘keep fit, have fun, feel great’ and just by moving and getting out and about it stimulates your mental and physical health – it’s just so good.”
Sarah’s classes see members in their early 20s to 70 years-old attend.
The pilates group takes place in Weston Hills village hall between 9.15am and 10am every Wednesday. A ‘legs, bums and tums’ circuit is held at Weston village hall from 9am and 10am on Sundays and the clubacise group is on a Friday evening at 6.30pm at Moulton Community Centre.
Sessions cost between £5-£10 per class. For more information and to book a place, visit Sarah’s website here.
