Flood warning remains in place at Surfleet Reservoir

Warnings of localised flooding at Surfleet Reservoir remain in place this evening.

The Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the reservoir yesterday and this continues this evening following the heavy rain of recent days.

Warning periods are now 7pm to 9pm tonight (Sunday, February 11), along with tomorrow morning and evening.

The warning states: “Heavy rain has fallen in the Surfleet area which is causing the river levels to rise on the River Glen. During periods of high tide, the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions.

“This is likely to lead to localised flooding at Surfleet Reservoir.

“This Flood Warning is now in force for the following tide lock periods: from 19:00 to 21:00 on Sunday, February 11 and from 7.30am to 9.30am and 7pm to 9.45pm on Monday, February 12. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
