South Holland market traders set to see rent-free period stretched to March 2021
Market traders in South Holland's four towns have been handed a winter boost after a decision not to charge them rent until the spring of 2021.
During a virtual meeting of South Holland District Council's cabinet today (Tuesday), members voted to continue waiving a rent of £11.20 per stall from now until March next year.
Rental fees were temporarily set aside when the markets reopened in Spalding, Long Sutton, Holbeach and Crowland during June and July as a way to encourage stallholders to come back to all four towns.
Presenting the recommendation to waive market rent fees for a ten-month period effectively, Coun Roger Gambba-Jones, the district council's portfolio holder for environmental services, said: "This will relieve traders of the burden of fees for Christmas and the New Year.
"It will also give the opportunity to look at how fees are better structured and the demand for market traders in their particular locations."
