Age UK Lincoln and South Lincolnshire to host ‘strollathon’ at The Vista in Spalding to raise funds for charity
An event that involves a style of dance popular in the 1950s is taking place to raise funds for charity.
Age UK Lincoln and South Lincolnshire is hosting its first ever ‘strollathon’ at The Vista in Spalding — and people are encouraged to put on their dancing shoes and join in.
Similar to line-dancing, strolling is a type of stepping dance and will be led by Claire Seabrook from Boston Jive.
Fundraising officer Sharna-Mae Brown said: “This charity event is not just about dancing, it is about making a positive impact in the lives of local older people.
“You don't need any previous experience of strolling because our wonderful activities coordinator will be guiding our dancing all day.
“Participation in this event will contribute directly to providing essential support for those who use I Forget, our dementia support service.”
The strollathon aims to take participants on a nostalgic journey with a new decade of music every hour including the timeless tunes of the 40s to the chart-toppers of today.
All ages are welcome including beginners and improvers and tickets cost £15 for a full day ticket or £5 per decade.
It will take place on Saturday (June 1) from 10am until 9pm.
