Spalding Flower Parade committee chairman announces next year’s theme ‘countries of the world’

Organisers are encouraging applicants for next year’s Spalding Flower Parade to ‘get their thinking caps on’ after announcing the theme.

Following the success of the musical themed Spalding Flower Parade in May - which started and finished at Springfields Event and Conference Centre - committee chairman Ray Clements has announced the theme for 2026.

In a Facebook video he said committee members have decided on ‘countries of the world’ and will need help in raising upwards of £90,000 to put on the major event which attracts thousands of visitors to Spalding.

Mr Clements said: “I am proud to announce that the 2026 flower parade theme will be countries of the world.

“Float applications are going to go out very shortly for that so get your thinking caps on - any country you like, we will turn no-one away.”

With costs for this year’s parade upwards of £90,000, the committee will be holding fundraising events, with a Bingo night planned for Friday, June 6, at Pinchbeck Village Hall.

Mr Clements said: “We do need to raise quite a bit of money for the parade.

“I can tell you that last year’s parade was upwards of £90,000, you can imagine we need to make the money.

“Support us in any which way you like.”

The parade in May split public opinion and Mr Clements responded to comments made that this year’s parade was too short.

He said “We want it loud, vibrant, flowers and longer, a lot longer than this years’ parade.

“I can assure you that will happen so get your thinking caps on as I say.”

Mr Clements added that applying to be part of the parade will be easier this year.

He said: “We are trying to make it easier as we do understand it was a little bit complicated last year.”
