Glamping site can install solar panels to power shepherd’s huts
A glamping site has been the green light to install solar panels to power its shepherd’s huts.
Cross Keys Farm can place 80 ground-mounted photovoltaic solar panels at its Quadring Bank premises after receiving planning approval from South Holland District Council.
“The panels will be installed on a low-profile ground-mounted system, blending with the natural landscape,” the design and access statement prepared by agent Paul Robinson Partnership said.
“Their location and orientation have been carefully selected to maximise efficiency and minimise visual impact.
“The site is situated in a peaceful countryside setting, offering all the advantages of open rural surroundings while remaining within easy reach of nearby villages and towns.”
Cross Keys farm has six luxury shepherd’s huts situated around a fishing lake available to book.
“Each of our huts is unique, with themed styling, design and décor and each offers a special experience,” its website explains.
“Small but beautifully formed, and equipped with all the necessities for a short break, our shepherd huts are the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of life.”
The panels would be located to the south-west of the site, on an existing grass mound.
Each panel would measure 1134mm by 1762mm by 30mm and arranged to give the array a total width of 37740mm and depth of 8638mm.
The SHDC planning officer’s report concluded: “There are no significant factors in this case that would outweigh the benefits of the proposal; therefore, the planning balance is in favour of the proposal.”
