Cowley Academy in Donington granted permission for new fitness suite
Plans to start work on a schools new fitness suite have been approved.
Cowley Academy in Donington has been given permission by South Holland District Council to alter its current mid-20th century built gymnasium.
The design includes new entrance doors to form a waiting area, office and meeting room, accessible ramp and a fire door.
Although the secondary school on Church Street is a listed building, planning officers said the changes made will not negativity impact the site’s original features.
An officers report said: “The proposal will not cause detriment to the setting, historic value or architectural integrity of the listed buildings and will preserve the character and appearance of the Donington Conservation Area.
“There are no significant factors in this case that indicate against the proposal and outweigh the consideration in favour of the proposal and the policies referred to above.”
