A-levels 2025: Spalding High School celebrate ‘tremendous’ results




Pupils have been thanked for their mature and positive mindset, after working ‘incredibly hard’ for their ‘remarkably’ successful A-level results.

Spalding High School’s year 13 enjoyed an ice-cream celebration with friends and teachers, following a dedicated academic year of studies.

More than 270 qualifications were taken by the sixth form this summer, where pupils achieved 61% of their grades at A* to B – with the majority securing places at their first-choice university.

Art and design students achieved 100% A* to B grades, and many other subjects including classical civilisation, chemistry, drama and theatre studies, English language, maths and further maths, geography, history, PE, photography and religious studies, achieved more than two thirds of their grades at A* to B.

The schools extended project qualification students also achieved remarkably well again this year, with 94% A* to B, and 100% A* to C grade success.

Libby Blackbourn, 18 of Spalding says she was ‘over the moon’ with her results, after securing three A*s in English literature, art and photography.

She will be going to Leeds University to study illustration, and has been busy over the summer break collaborating with Fields Farm Nature Play and Therapy in Whaplode, with a book being released later this year.

Libby added: “Illustrating the book was an amazing opportunity and I have received another offer from someone else which I will be doing alongside uni.

“I wasn’t expecting my results at all.”

Gabrielle Best, 17 of Spalding, was moved up a year to take her A-levels early, as a result of her high achievements.

She secured an A in psychology, B in law, C in business and A* in her extended project qualification.

Gabrielle is taking a gap year but is hoping to continue studying psychology at Exeter University. said: “I am pleased with my grades considering the circumstances and I find psychology interesting so I am excited to study that.”

Taelah Roberts, 18 of Spalding and pal, Daisy Wilson, 18 of Spalding, will both be heading to Sheffield University to study law.

The friends are looking forward to making the next big step together.

Taelah secured an A* in law and criminology and A in physics. Daisy, who studied the same subjects got three As, she said: “I found law my favourite subject because it was really interesting and we also had a good teacher.

“I’m happy we are going together and I will be celebrating with family later.”

Roisin Williams, 18, of Moulton Chapel achieved three A*s in physics, maths, geography and further maths.

She said: “I am very passionate about formula one so I will be going to Cambridge University to study engineering.

“I put in a a lot of hard work but it was worth the effort.”

Mark Edwards, 18, has secured an apprenticeship in fiance with a Spalding-based firm, after achieving two Bs in English and classics and a D in maths.

Eloise Hodson, 18, of Spalding screamed when she opened her results after securing two As in English language and history and a B in religious studies.

She said: “I am very pleased with my results. I screamed when I opened UCAS and saw I had been accepted into uni and screamed again when I read my results.

“My mum cried and my dad said he was proud of me.”

Eloise will be going to St Johns University in York to study creative writing.

Annie Close, 18, of Spalding, got two Bs in psychology and business and a C in biology. She will be going to Nottingham university to study psychology.

Evie Wilkinson, 18, of Spalding, who was one mark off an A in physics, but said her results were ‘better than she expected’.

She secured an A* in biology and A in business and thanks her mum for revising with her.

“I put in a lot of work and was always revising with my mum.” Evie added.

Mum, Gina said: “It was really emotional for me but I am so proud, it was very well deserved.”

Izzy Wright, 1,8 of Boston, is planning on taking a gap year to explore Japan, but will be studying psychology at Durham university when she returns.

She got an A* in religious and two As in History and Physics.

Head girl, Abbie Horspool, 18, of Wisbech, achieved an A* in business, A in geography and B in biology.

She will be going on to study an apprenticeship in business at a Spalding-based firm. Abbie said: “Its been hard to keep on top of the responsibilities of head girl alongside studying but the prefects have been very helpful.”

Jasmine Woodroffe, 18, of Crowland, said ‘wow’ after opening her results to see an A* in art, A in DT and B in biology. Jasmine will go on to study biology at Leeds University.

Alice Nicholson, 18, of Crowland said her family was really pleased for her, as she achieved an A* in criminology, A in art and B in business. She will be going to York to study marketing.

Headmistress, Michele Anderson is extremely proud of year group. She said: “Our students work incredibly hard and have yet again been rewarded with tremendously pleasing results at A-Level this year.

“This is a testament to their commitment and hard work alongside the support of their parents and carers and the dedication of our experienced staff.

“The examination process is a challenging one and students have faced this with maturity and positivity and are to be commended for their resilience.

“Staff are also to be highly commended for ensuring that our students are both well taught and exam ready.

“Spalding High School and Spalding Grammar School co-teach several A Level subjects, and they too were incredibly successful this year, with 100% of students achieving A*-C grades in French and Music and 75% of students achieving the same in English literature.

“In total, 59 students (66% of the cohort) achieved three or four A*-C grades across their subjects this year.

“We wish all our students the very best of luck and every success in the future.

“We would like to thank them for helping to make the High School the special place that it is.”

Lily Roberts-Anchor (four A levels at A*) who is planning to study mathematics.

Rosalia Bunder (four A Levels at A*-C) is planning to study fashion photography.

Isabelle Hicks (three A Levels at A*/A) who is planning to study law.

Ellie Griffin (four A Levels at A/B) to study biomedical sciences.

Sophie Gleave (four A Levels at A/B) and planning to take a gap year.

Naya Valambhia (three A Levels at A*/A) who is planning to study medicine.

Caitlin Keyzers (three A Levels at A*/B) is planning to study bio-medicine.

Eleanor Cranke (three A Levels at A*/A) who is planning to study natural sciences.
