The inspector stated in the report, John Harrox pupils are ‘caring, courteous, conscientious, considerate and cooperative’ – and although the school has ‘high expectations’, most of the youngsters ‘live up to them and achieve well.’

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported and the report acknowledged staff make suitable adaptations during lessons – which enables these pupils to follow the same curriculum as their peers successfully.

The primary school secured a ‘good’ rating in the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.

Some of the areas inspectors would like to see improve include setting out clear disciplinary knowledge in some subjects, ensuring staff maximise their interactions with children so they can develop their knowledge, skills and vocabulary consistently.
