Spalding man's murder leads to police issuing knife crime warning




Lincolnshire Police has issued a statement about the devastating effects of knife crime after a 21-year-old woman was jailed for nine years today for the manslaughter of her former partner.

Charlie Stevenson (21), was sentenced to nine years for the manslaughter of her ex-boyfriend Christopher Higgs.

Stevenson, of Portland Street, Boston, was sentenced earlier today at Lincoln Crown Court for the killing of Mr Higgs, who was living in Spalding.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, who led the investigation, said: “I can only hope that this sentence brings some level of comfort and closure to Christopher’s friends and family. My heartfelt condolences go out to them at this difficult time.

“As evidenced by this tragic case, knife crime can have devastating consequences. Lincolnshire Police are committed to keeping the county safe and will continue to tackle the issue of knife crime in the county as a priority through Operation Raptor.”

After Stevenson was found guilty of manslaughter last month, DCI Myszczyszyn said: “My heartfelt condolences go to Christopher’s family and friends. I know this has been a very difficult time for them and I hope that the result will give them some closure to allow them to move forward with their lives.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the investigation, from witnesses to the team investigating. This case highlights the devastating effect using a weapon can have and the fatal consequences that can come with it.
