UPDATE: Police confirm dog found alive after death of woman reported to have gone into water after the animal
LATEST: Police have told us that a dog was found alive, after a woman was reported going into the water at Moulton Marsh after the animal.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the nature reserve at 10.15am on Wednesday.
Police searched for several hours for the woman after she was reported as missing, working with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Her Majesty’s Coastguard.
Sadly, it was reported at 1.35pm on Wednesday that emergency services recovered the body of a 35-year-old woman.
PREVIOUSLY: Police have confirmed they were alerted to the scene where a woman went missing yesterday at Moulton Marsh after receiving a report that she went into the water after her dog.
Police searched for several hours after being called out at 10.15am yesterday, working with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Her Majesty’s Coastguard to try to locate the woman.
Sadly, it was reported at 1.35pm yesterday that emergency services recovered the body of a 35-year-old woman.
PREVIOUSLY: Police searching for a missing woman reported to have entered the River Welland say they have found a body.
In a statement released just now, Inspector for the South Holland area, Gareth Boxall said: "At 10.15am we were called to the nature reserve at Moulton Marsh to a report of a lady having entered the River Welland.
"For several hours we worked with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Her Majesty’s Coastguard to try to locate this lady.
"Air support from three helicopters, several boats and our own drone were unfortunately unable to locate the lady. I am very sad to report that at 1.35pm we found the body of a 35-year-old local woman and we have informed her next of kin of her death. We are not treating the incident as suspicious."
PREVIOUSLY: Two specialist boat teams are currently at Moulton Marsh nature reserve after reports of a woman in the River Welland, known for its strong current.
Donington firefighters and the boat teams from Spalding and Boston are in attendance together with other agencies, including the police, at the nature reserve, also known as the 'Hare and Hounds', near the site of the former pub of the same name, off the A17 at Fosdyke/Three Bridges.
Extensive searches now are under way for woman in her 30s. These are being carried out by the National Police Air Service helicopter, a police drone and further air support from the Coastguard Agency.
