Protect our families and vote Tory

Comrade Corbyn and the hard left Marxist Labour Party are a threat not just to our economy and Brexit, but also our national security and the lives of our loved ones – family, friends, and communities.

Corbyn’s willingness to indulge terrorists such as the IRA and describe those that have killed and maimed members of our security services, and innocent children, women and men as “heroes that deserve medals” demonstrates his detachment from reality and the very real threat he poses to each and every one of us.

Only this week Corbyn said that the very epitome of evil, the leader of ISIS - who has the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocents on his hands, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi – should not have been killed by the US military, but “should have been arrested instead”. What planet does he live on?

Corbyn does not seem to be able to grasp that terrorist organisations like ISIS who want to destroy our way of life and communities, and in the process kill as many of us infidels (that includes our families and friends) as they possibly can would show no such mercy.

Corbyn is such a self-declared pacifist (except in the case of Israel) it has manifested itself in his confession that he believes that NO ‘shoot to kill’ policy should be pursued if a terrorist/s are roaming our towns and cities killing innocents.

No doubt that extends to children being shot in their schools, the sick in their hospital beds or anyone else in a public place or building.

It doesn’t matter how many are killed or injured, Corbyn does not believe that they should be shot dead at the earliest opportunity.

Likewise, Corbyn’s failure to condemn Russia’s chemical weapon attack in Salisbury, his unwillingness to sing the national anthem with WW2 heroes, his admission that he will not write the letter that authorises the use of our independent nuclear deterrent – rendering it impotent in the process - are just the tip of the ice berg.

When they elected the Marxist Corbyn as Leader, Labour Party members knew he had taken tea with the IRA and the vilest of anti-Semites. They were aware he had been arrested during a demonstration in support of the man who planted the Brighton bomb – a direct attack on British democracy.

This means we have to stop Corbyn and his Labour Party in its tracks. They are a clear and present danger to the security of the United Kingdom and its citizens. The only way to protect our families and stop Britain becoming an easy target for our enemies is to vote Conservative on December 12.

Everyone should give John Hayes their support

This election is first and foremost about Brexit. It now seems clear that the Conservatives – promising to respect the referendum result by leaving the EU with a deal – are the only party with a moderate, sensible position.

In contrast, Labour’s plans for more renegotiation before yet another referendum would simply lead to further dither, delay and uncertainty. How could Jeremy Corbyn first lead negotiations on a new deal and then stay neutral?

Worst still, I was astonished to hear that the Lib Dems are planning to cancel Brexit immediately, even though they would win nowhere near as many votes as the Leave campaign did. How is that democratic?

Thankfully, we have a widely respected local MP who has been consistent for as long as he’s represented us. I am absolutely certain that John Hayes is committed to getting Brexit done and uniting our country. That’s why I believe everyone – leave or remain – should give John Hayes their support this December.

Let him continue his good work

Nathan Murphy’s ad hominem attack on Sir John Hayes just goes to show the desperation of the Labour Party in being unable to defend either their clueless leadership or disastrous manifesto!

Sir John’s impeccable record as a tirelessly-working constituency MP speaks for itself. During his time as our MP he has taken up over 25,000 individual cases on behalf of constituents; a few examples that bear testimony:

• Using an Adjournment Debate to champion the cause of the young daughter of a constituent to have access to the first dedicated treatment for her rare condition;

• As a patron of Headway, the brain injury charity, co-sponsoring a Commons debate on acquired brain injury and taking time out from campaigning to attend their Christmas craft fair in Spalding;

• Working alongside nuclear test veteran Douglas Hern to win official recognition for all those who suffered as a consequence of their service to our nation;

• Persuading Theresa May to announce a Children’s Funeral Fund to cover funeral costs;

• All recipients of his annual Christmas card know of the joy to numerous students at the Garth School, Priory School and Gosberton House of producing artworks for the design competition.

Sir John Hayes again deserves our support at this election so that he can continue to serve the people of South Holland and the Deepings with his customary flair for representing us so ably in Parliament.

Great work over a number of years

I had the pleasure of hearing all the local parliamentary candidates at a hustings in Spalding last week.

The young Labour candidate, given his inexperience, spoke well, and the Green Party representative did well too.

But one man stood head and shoulders above the others. Sir John Hayes, who has represented the constituency assiduously and dutifully for 22 years, responded to the other candidates with civility and focus, as one would expect a former Minister of Security to do.

I have witnessed Sir John’s work over a number of years. During his time as Minister of Shipping I can attest to his breadth of understanding and history of our country, his work in implementing the Maritime Growth Study and his exceptional efforts in initiating Maritime 2050, which is the first 30 year maritime strategy our country has had in its 500 year history as a lead, global maritime nation.

If a definition of a Parliamentarian is to “educate and lead” and one of Government is to deliver “peace, dignity and hope” then Sir John Hayes understands the fragility of either and the optimism of possibility in both.

RELIEF ROAD

I feel so sorry for under-threat residents

I would like to support a lot of what Amanda Halifax said recently in your letters page.

I feel really sad for the residents, particularly along Bourne Road, who have been under threat of losing their home since last February.

I have been pleased to work with the residents and Coun Sneath to try to resolve several issues which have not been handled very well by Lincolnshire County Council and South Holland, particularly around lack of timely communications.

I personally have spoken about the residents favouring the allotment route and, if the officers at South Holland had realised just how much time and effort had been put into former Coun William Webb choosing that route, and the massive consultation which took place at that time with local residents, we might have a different situation now.

What appears to ‘blight’ that site now is the pencilling in of a secondary school site on the corner of the A151 Bourne Road/Monks House Lane.

Would local residents, and any planners who might read this, tell me where they think numerous buses will be able to park?

Perhaps we will get the side of Monks House Playing field re-surfaced to provide some parking? What an absolutely ridiculous site for another school?

I understand the Secretary of State did intimate in a letter to Mrs Halifax that councils can only demolish people’s homes as a last resort and I am grateful that Coun Martin Hill did agree that LCC would look at what was declared as the preferred route last month.

So hopefully Lincolnshire County Council will now be able to come up with a solution where residents do not lose their homes, and as Amanda says, have a Happy Christmas.
