Level crossing barrier issue leads to traffic queues in and around Spalding

Motorists have suffered from traffic issues in and around Spalding after a level crossing failed this afternoon.

Network Rail said they received reports of an issue with the Mill Green level crossing — the name for the Woolram Wygate crossing — at 4.15pm.

Engineers were sent to the area — and arrived after about an hour. The issue had a knock-on effect for many routes in the town — with drivers having to turn around when they realised the gates would not raise..
