Faulty part causes stuck level crossing barrier issue in Spalding

A fault with a level crossing which created chaos for many motorists took nearly four hours to resolve.

Parts of Spalding ground to a halt yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, October 22), following a problem at the Mill Green crossing in Woolram Wygate.

It was reported at about 4.15pm with engineers arriving an hour later.

Network Rail has said the level crossing required a new part, which was fitted by signalling and telecommunications workers, and it was resolved by 8.19pm.

The issue had a knock-on effect for other routes in the town – with many drivers choosing to turn around when they realised the gates wouldn’t raise.
