Lincolnshire County Council election results: Donington Rural ward




South Holland Independents candidate Jane King was won the Donington Rural seat.

The Lincolnshire County Council ward - which covers Donington, Gosberton, Surfleet, Quadring and northern tip of Pinchbeck - had been held by Conservative Rodney Grocock.

Coun King beat him by 116 votes in a tight race.

She said: "I am gobsmacked and thrilled.

"I'm very pleased and very humbled by the amount of people that had confidence enough to come out and vote.

"I'm going to have the weekend off, let my blisters and letter box injuries heal and then get into it and get going.

"I'm looking forward to it - a little bit nervous, but who wouldn't be?"

The seat was also contested by the Green Party's Martin Colman.

Grocock, Rodney (Con) 956

Colman, Martin (Green) 138

There were 15 spoiled ballots.
