Lincolnshire County Council election results: Full round-up

Six of South Holland's nine county council seats have been won by the Conservative Party - with the Tories also retaining overall control of County Hall.

However, the party didn't have things all its own way - with county cabinet member Eddy Poll losing his Spalding East seat to South Holland Independents' Rob Gibson.

The challenger won that seat by just 36 votes in the tightest race in our area.

Robert Gibson, of South Holland Independents, won a tight contest against county council cabinet member Eddy Poll.

Across Lincolnshire, the Conservatives won 54 of the 70 seats on Lincolnshire County Council.

That's down four seats on the last election but still more than the 36 required to have overall control of the council.

Council leader Martin Hill, who kept hold of his Folkingham Rural seat, said: "Thank you for giving the Conservative once again a resounding thumbs up, we will work hard for you and take on the lessons learned so far."

Our reporter Kat Wakefield was at the Castle Sports Complex in Spalding to witness all nine of South Holland's seats be decided.

South Holland Independents' Jane King won the Donington Rural seat off Conservative Rodney Grocock, while Independent Chris Brewis lost to Conservative Jack Tyrrell - as a couple of seats changed hands.

Conservatives Gary Taylor (Spalding South) and Tracey Carter (Holbeach) won the seats vacated by party colleagues Christine Lawton and Nick Worth respectively.

Going into the election, the Conservatives had held seven of South Holland's nine seats - so end up one down on their 2017 performance in this area.

See below to links to all of the individual seat results, with reaction from the winners:

In total, there were 54 Conservative councillors elected (-4) as well as four for Labour (-2), five Independents (+1), one for Lincolnshire Independents (-), three Liberal Democrats (+2) and three South Holland Independents (+3).
