He said: "I'm very pleased and very happy.

"It's been a bit hard since I've been selected because the pandemic stopped us from campaigning how I would wish to, but we've made the most of the last few weeks.

"I've met many people through the leaflets, taken up issues and it's a positive campaign based on the issues that affect people's lives.

"It's a serious responsibility.

"Public health, particularly through this pandemic, education and adult social care are very important responsibility as well as the street scene of potholes and road safety issues. That's what we've campaigned on.

"I might take the weekend off now, but congratulations to my supporters, thank you to the voters who put their trust in me and to my opponents for a good campaign.

"I look forward to next week when I will be working my way through the issues that have been raised and getting some results for local people.

"I take this seriously. It's an important responsibility and I look forward to taking issues to a county council level."

The full results are:

Blake Martin (Green): 109

Brown Nicholas (Labour): 209

Hasan Manzur (South Holland Independents): 835

Taylor Gary (Conservative): 995
