Lincolnshire County Council election results: The Suttons




The Suttons county council seat has been won by Jack Tyrrell.

The contest was a two-way tussle between the Conservative candidate and Independent Chris Brewis, the holder.

Coun Tyrrell won the seat, which represents residents in Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge, by 216 votes.

He said: " I feel absolutely brilliant about it.

"I have worked hard for this - this is the third time for me to go against Chris and I feel for him because this is Chris' world so I'm never going to rub his nose in it.

"He's been a good councillor for the Suttons, in the first part I would have said.

"Even myself, I say, when I get to about 70 that is it. I think when you get to a certain age you've got to know when to stop.

"I think even Chris will tell you, if he's going to lose to anybody it's probably going to be to me because I've been trying to beat this for the last eight or ten years. I wouldn't have thought he'd want to lose to some outsider who doesn't know the area. He did say that we would work together too.

"My plan now is to do what I said I do - which is what I always do. I'm going to get my hands mucky.

"I'm not a councillor who sits on his backside and I think the people of the Suttons know that."

Brewis, Christopher (Ind) 1,015

Tyrrell, Jack (Con) 1,231

There were 29 spoiled ballots.
