Spalding woman turns life around after going down four dress sizes in less than a year
Following a period of low moods and depression, a dedicated woman has turned her life around and has since discovered an extended family of supporters.
After feeling like she was missing out on important moments in her life due to the way she felt and looked, Trudy Herd, 65, of Spalding, joined Slimming World in July 2023 – and has since dropped almost four dress sizes.
Trudy noticed she was spending a lot of time not wanting to go out with family and friends. She said: “Losing weight has helped me discover an extended family of supporters.
“One of the biggest challenges was walking into the first meeting, but I felt welcomed and the whole group has supported me with words of encouragement. It feels like an extended family.”
After losing nearly three stone, Trudy now enjoys shopping for new clothes, meeting new people, eating healthier and becoming more active.

She said: “I can walk further and now enjoy taking part in an exercise class twice a week. I have made changes and different choices around food, which has helped me lower my blood pressure, reduce my cholesterol levels and pain in my back, legs, knees and ankles.
“You are never judged at the meetings, only encouraged and I also enjoy seeing how the other members of the group are doing each week. I also love the additional support we get outside the group from the magazine, which is full of recipes, inspiration and motivation.”
Trudy received the ‘Greatest Loser Certificate’ after losing the most weight in the Spalding session.
