Gosberton Clough and Risegate Community Primary School rated good overall by Ofsted inspectors




A primary school has had a rating of good overall following its Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors visited Gosberton Clough and Risegate Community Primary School, and rated quality of education, leadership and management and early years provision as good which matched its previous visit in 2018.

Behaviour, attitudes and personal development at the school , which has an age range between four and 11, were rated as ‘outstanding’.

The report highlighted that ‘pupils are welcoming, polite and respectful’ and that they are ‘rightly proud of the school’ where there are 92 on roll.

In terms of what the school does well and what it needs to do better the advice was to deepen pupils’ learning and fully identify all the key knowledge and skills they need in every subject.

Staff were praised in enabling pupils with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) to access the same curriculum as their peers.

The headteacher Bev Rooney,Justine Bowers who is the chair of the governing body, and inspectors met formally with groups of pupils to talk about the quality of education and other aspects of school life.

They also spoke with staff and pupils informally, visited lessons, held discussions about the curriculums and reviewed curriculum plans.

Inspectors noted that ‘pupils are welcoming, polite and respectful’ and that ‘they are treasured, nurtured and cared for.”

It was also mentioned in the report that pupils’ welfare and well-being are supported through strong pastoral care.

Particular attention was given to the high expectation of behaviour that is met.

The report emphasised that ‘lunchtimes are joyous and sociable occasions’ and highlighted that ‘pupils care for one another.’

Inspectors reported that ‘older pupils delight in looking out for, and playing with, younger pupils’ and have positive attitudes to learning which means that they achieve well.

Outdoor experiences were also praised as pupils marveled as they explored a beehive and took pride in their fruit and vegetable growing.

The school values a wide range of clubs and activities, including the choir, crochet and crafts, drama and sports clubs which was noted in the report.
