Spalding man appeared in Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on nine charges
A man who is accused of possessing an air rifle in the town centre has appeared in court today.
Matthew Dye, 39, of Stonegate, Spalding, has been charged with a total of nine offences and appeared in Lincoln Magistrates’ Court earlier today (Monday, June 9).
Armed police were called after receiving reports of a man being in the Market Place, Spalding, with what was perceived to have been an air rifle on May 31. Officers had made an arrest.
Mr Dye had been charged with seven offences which are reported to have taken place on May 31:
- Assault on a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm
- Intentional strangulation
- Criminal damage
- Burglary
- One count of theft from a shop
- Possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence
Following his arrest, further investigation has resulted in him being charged with the following offences:
- Two counts of theft from a shop
- Theft of a pedal cycle
A force spokesman said: “Dye appeared before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, June 9) and was remanded to appear in court at a later date.”
