Spalding man charged with murder and attempted murder

UPDATE: A man due in court today (Wednesday) charged with murder and attempted murder will now not appear until tomorrow (Thursday).

Delays in the judicial process have been given as the reason for the rearranged appearance in court of Wayne Rule (45), of Cygnet Court, Spalding.

PREVIOUSLY: A 45-year-old Spalding man will appear in court later today charged with murder and attempted murder.

Wayne Rule (45), of Cygnet Court, has been remanded in custody to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court after two incidents on Monday.

Police say 42-year-old Darren Kirk, from Spalding, was killed in the early hours of Monday, and Mark Stone (46), was seriously injured in a separate incident.

They received a report that a man had suffered serious injuries at a property in Cygnet Court at 1.10am on Monday and Mr Kirk was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are linking this incident with another serious assault at an address in Bowditch Road in which Mr Stone also suffered serious injuries. That incident was reported at 12.26am on Monday.
