Spalding based Christmas obsessed couple switch on festive display – which featured more than 80,000 lights
Crowds gathered to watch a Christmas-obsessed couple switch on more than 80,0000 lights at their home to raise money for charity.
More than 100 people visited Steve Marriott and Cath Coles’ Spalding house last week, for a grand reveal of the couples hard work.
Residents of Farthingales saw the couples’ home light up for the festive period — with the house festooned by thousands of 3D printed lights, which were handmade by Steve – who had been preparing for the event since February.
The big switch-on raised £240 for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance service. Cath said: “We felt as though it was a great success and it was a really good night.
“I think a lot of people learnt more about what the air ambulance does and were shocked to hear it costs £4,000 each time they go up into the air.
“Everyone who visited on the night, felt it was brilliant and the more you know, the more you can understand about the charity – which will hopefully lead to more donations.”
The couple started decorating their home during lockdown to put a smile on peoples faces, however this year they went bigger and better.
Last year, Steve and Cath raised £250 for the air ambulance charity, which they were close to beating with the total from Saturday.
Cath added: “We are not far off what we raised last year so we are very pleased with it.
“We’ve had children walk by the house with their mothers who are practically having to drag them past the display because they need to get home for dinner – the kids just want to stand there dancing and singing all day.
“Hopefully we can keep raising money for the charity through the go fund me page.”

This year’s illuminations will be available to see until January 5.
