More than 20 parking fines issued after changes to town centre bays in Spalding

More than 20 parking tickets have been dished out along a town centre street after changes to parking bays.

A former disabled parking bay has been converted to a loading bay along Red Lion Street in Spalding, outside Pacey’s bakery.

But to ensure there was still a disabled parking spot along the street, a new bay has been created further along the street.

Since September 9, a total of 22 parking fines have been issued along Red Lion Street.

Lincolnshire County Council, who made the changes, confirmed 17 tickets have been issued in the loading bay and five in the disabled bay.

“It’s caught a few people out, I’ve seen traffic wardens issuing a few tickets now,” one reader told LincsOnline.

It is not known whether these tickets have been handed out to motorists who were unaware of the bay changes or to drivers trying to pull a fast one and park for free as they headed to a nearby shop.
