Life-saving show Is It Me Or Is IT Hot In Here? faces final curtain at South Holland Centre in Spalding

A performer will be hanging up her huge knitted boobs after her final comedy show about breast cancer and menopause.

Zeph Churchill debuted Is It Me Or Is IT Hot In Here? at the South Holland Centre, Spalding, two years ago and has since raised £4,000 for Cop A Feel and Breast Cancer UK.

The former nurse, who is also conductor of Spalding Community Choir and Encore Orchestra, will perform her final show on Friday, October 17, at the theatre where it began.

Zeph said: “Unfortunately my knitted boobs are getting a bit saggy now.

“But the main reason is that my work is done - the show has saved several lives.”

“Tickets are going like HRT patches on a menopausal woman.

“I have spoken to more than 7,000 men and women to get the message across for women to examine themselves.

“Men would meet me at stage door and say they can now understand their mother, partner, sister, which is brilliant.”

Now Zeph feels the message has been conveyed and is semi-retiring from show business.

She said: “I have had a blast, from Devon, Manchester to Kent, I have absolutely loved it.”

“But I think women are more empowered than two years ago.

“When I first started women were not empowered at all.”

The show’s appeal has reached across generations from grandmothers to 20-somethings.

Zeph added: “The final show is going to be very funny and I have taken some of the education stuff out.

“Women are more inclined to say they have researched and found sites. Or they have made an appointment, using HRT and feeling much better.”

Since touring the show Zeph has starred in an advert for Jude Bladder Health and spoken at national conferences.

She is grateful to the first Spalding audience who gave her a standing ovation and the South Holland Centre for giving her the opportunity.

She said: “From the very first show I said, if it helps one person, I have made a difference.

“I have been contacted by people who were diagnosed with breast cancer and treated.

“The South Holland Centre is a gem - not just for established acts but for rising stars and giving local talent an opportunity.”
